What is Group Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Chronic Pain?
Chronic pain can often affect your mood, behaviours and your close relationships. Group Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy for Chronic Pain aims to help people suffering with chronic pain by teaching coping strategies for pain management to increase activity and quality of life.
Cognitive-Behavioural Group Therapy for Chronic Pain will include teaching those suffering with chronic pain to better understand that thought and behaviours can affect their experience of pain. The program will include coping skills training for chronic pain such as relaxation strategies aimed at decreasing muscle tension, reducing emotional distress, and diverting attention from pain. Behavioural strategies will be used to help clients increase their activity level. Cognitive techniques will be used to help clients identify, challenge and change negative thoughts about their pain to help sufferers cope with their pain more effectively.

Who is suitable to attend?
Adults aged 18 years and over, who are experiencing chronic pain and who are motivated to improve their quality of life. Individual sessions are available for continued support following the completion of the group program.
When will the groups run?
Cognitive-Behavioural Group Therapy for Chronic Pain consists of 10 weekly sessions of 60-minute consultations. The program may be offered at various times throughout the year.
