Renee has always had an interest in helping and understanding people and studying at University only deepened Renee’s interest. It was at this time she discovered her real passion for Psychology in helping people better understand themselves to live a more fulfilling life.
Renee enjoys seeing a broad range of clients across the life span, from young children to older adults. She is experienced in providing therapy to clients with a variety of presentations including, PTSD, trauma, couples therapy and a range of presentations with children. Renee’s approach to therapy is client based, meaning she is focused on tailoring therapy to each of her clients. She supports her clients with a positive mindset, believing that despite a client’s presentation or background, there is always a way to help.
Renee is also the Principal Psychologist at The Psych Professionals Capalaba. She leads the clinical team through giving each team member the support and clinical supervision they need to best attend their clients. She ensures that the practice is constantly aligned with the Psych Professionals’ original vision, mission, values, ultimately helping clients live the live that they deserve.
Renee is motivated by the great team she has surrounding her at The Psych Professionals and of course, her clients. She feels privileged to work with people who feel confident to share their personal lives with her. However, she feels even more privileged being able to watch them reach goals and live the life they deserve.
What can you expect from your first session with Renee?
Your first session with Renee will look a little different from future sessions. This first session involves discussing what has bought you to therapy. This doesn’t need to make perfect sense or be finished in the first session. Renee understands that therapy can be intimidating and for this reason she is patient and empathetic. She will meet you where you are comfortable in session and will begin therapy at your pace.
Renee’s first session with a child has a primary focus on beginning to build trust and making sure the child feels comfortable and safe in the therapeutic space. This may continue for the first few sessions as Renee’s focus is to initially build this connection. A large portion of the first session will involve the parents/caregivers. This is to hear their perspective, explain what therapy may look like and ensure they too, feel comfortable.
